Patterns, text and blending options:
This tutorial assumes you understand Photoshop layers and blend modes.
Patterns can make a big difference with text, especially thanks to Photoshop's "blending options".
1. We start with typing some text. I chose a large wide font called "Arial
Black":
2. The next thing to do is go to the text layer "blending options"
- you do this by right clicking on the requested layer in the
"layers" palette and choosing "blending options":
3. In the "layer style" dialogue box select the "pattern overlay"
option (make sure you didn't just check the box, make sure it's actually marked
so you can change its settings). Here's how I set it:
4. This is what the text will look like with just a basic "pattern overlay":
5. You can play with all the "blending options" - add
a stroke, bevel, set a different blending mode for the pattern like "color
burn", add a drop shadow or a glow, or even both... It's endless. Here's
